Field Service/Support Technician, TaaS

Job Description:

The Training as a Service (TaaS) program will provide the training tools needed to prepare our nation’s military for any contingency, anywhere.

Saab, Inc has an exciting opportunity for Part-Time, On Call (PTOC) Field Service Representatives (FSRs) to provide integral support to TaaS training events. The FSRs provide critical support to the TaaS training events from issuing equipment to working as Contact Teams during training events.

Saab FSRs provide highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site activities as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of the training instrumentation equipment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Report to the Saab Site Lead.  

  • Deliver equipment familiarity and functionality lessons to the training unit in accordance with the established Saab Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). 

  • Assist with the erection and maintenance of the communication system if required. 

  • Form part of a Contact Team to conduct the following tasks throughout an exercise: 

    • Issue equipment in the field as required and maintain all necessary paperwork.  

    • Deliver equipment familiarity and functionality lessons in the field as necessary. 

    • Troubleshoot and exchange equipment throughout an exercise. 

    • Conduct battery resupply to exercising troops as required. 

    • Support equipment emplacement in the training areas, maintenance of that equipment, and troubleshooting. 

  • Assists with the Recovery/ Receipt phase on site in accordance with the logistics plan. 

  • Performs authorized levels of maintenance on the training instrumentation equipment.

  • Documents and reports all faults and incidents.

  • Monitors stock levels and assists with inventory accountability.

  • Plans, prepares and configures system equipment prior to each exercise. 

  • Assists with the maintenance, serviceability, and resupply of the Saab Training Support Team vehicles. 


Compensation Range: $21.92-$25.77

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience may include comprehensive knowledge of tools, software and other technologies

  • Live Training / simulation experience desired.

  • Valid US Driver’s License.

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and forklift certification highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Stand and walk for long periods of time.

  • Must be willing to travel frequently. 

  • Must be willing to live in expeditionary (field) environments.

  • Must be able to accomplish tasks in all weather from extreme heat to extreme cold.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
